Mr. Burch was born in Rome, Georgia, raised in Gainesville, Georgia, and attended The University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia from 1969-1973. While attending The University of Georgia, Mr. Burch obtained a degree in Risk Management and Insurance, with a minor in Management.

From June of 1972 through December of 1975, Mr. Burch served as full time Career Agent with Mutual of New York. In January of 1976, he was named Sales Supervisor for the Atlanta Agency of MONY. In January of 1977, Mr. Burch was named Sales Manager of the Atlanta Agency of MONY, a position in which he served until July 1983.

From July 1, 1983 until October 1, 2003, Mr. Burch served as Regional Chief Executive Officer of Lincoln Financial Advisors Atlanta Regional Planning Office. From October 1, 2003 until December 31, 2006, he served as Executive Vice President of Peachtree Planning Corporation in Atlanta, Georgia. On January 1, 2007, Mr. Burch opened a branch of Peachtree Planning doing business as Lighthouse Financial Advisors, LLC in Saint Simons Island, Georgia.

Mr. Burch received his Chartered Life Underwriter® (CLU®) designation in 1983 from the American College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. He also received his Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®) designation in February of 1998 from the American College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. Mr. Burch is a 1978 graduate of the LIMRA sales management school, as well as a 1984 graduate of the Agency Management Training Course (AMTC).

Mr. Burch was President of the Atlanta General Agents and Managers Association (GAMA) in 1990-1991 and 1991-1992. He served on the Regional CEO Advisory Council for Lincoln National Life from 1990-1992, 1992-1993, 1996-1997. He also served on the Lincoln Financial Advisors Operating Board from 1999-2002. Mr. Burch was also President of the Atlanta Chapter of CLU and ChFC from July 1996 to June 1997. He is a past member of the Atlanta Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (AAIFA) where he was President in 2002.

Mr. Burch is a member of the St Simons Island Presbyterian Church. He's also a member of the Sea Island Golf Club, Brunswick Country Club, the University of Georgia's Presidents Club, and the Terry College of Business of the University of Georgia's Emeritus Alumni Board of Directors. He is past president of the Touchdown Club of Atlanta and served 9 years on the Board of Directors for Lambda Chi Alpha's National Fraternity's Education Foundation.

Mr. Burch is married to the former Terri Lassetter, and they have two children, Mackey, age 21, and Bennett, age 18.
